Saadani National Park offers bush-to-beach adventures like no other!
Saadani National Park is the only wildlife sanctuary located right on the coast of East Africa.
Saadani National Park
Saadani National Park is the only wildlife park in Tanzania that borders the Indian Ocean. It is one of a kind paradise which offers everything from bush to beach, walking safaris, game drives to boat trips. With an area of approximately 1062 km square, the size of the park is extended to include the former Saadani game reserve, the former Mkwaja ranch area, the Wami River, and the Zaraninge Forest.
If you wish to experience all that Saadani has to offer and make the most out of your safari and beach vacation, we recommend you visit this unique park during the dry season (June – September).
What safari animals can I see at Saadani National Park?
Both game drives and guided walks will take you into the heart of Saadani and give you a great chance of seeing zebras, buffalo, elephants, warthogs, giraffes, wildebeest, waterbuck, and even the elusive sable antelope. If you’re very lucky (and patient!) you might even be rewarded with the coveted sighting of a lion, leopard or spotted hyena.
Tanzania Bagamoyo Pwani/Beach
Head to the beach for one of Saadani’s most special displays, as this is one of the few remaining breeding sites for green turtles, while dolphins and humpback whales provide their own show in the Ocean beyond. A boat trip on the Wami River takes you up close and personal with hippos, crocodiles and flamingos, for an experience that will really set your heart racing, and bird-watchers can enjoy spotting the many rarely seen migratory birds that are attracted to these shores.

Want to explore Saadani National Park for a wildlife safari and beach adventure? Here are the best months to go.
The best to enjoy maximum game viewing is during the dry season, from June through September. In January and February, the park becomes a paradise for bird lovers.
The roads become inaccessible during the heavy rainy season, so many properties stay closed in April, May and November. We do not recommend travelling to Saadani during the wet season.
How to get to Saadani National Park?
The park is easy to access from Dar es Salaam, Tanga and Zanzibar. Below are approximate driving times:

How to Plan Your Saadani Safari & Beach Like a Pro
There are many factors to consider when planning a Saadani safari in Tanzania. Deciding which reliable tour operator (s) to use for your dream African safari experience is not an easy task. With a sea of general online tour operators, it is hard to find the ONE that truly speaks to your discerning tastes and genuinely understands your travel needs and expectations.
Start by gathering enough information to help you decide on the best destination. Depending on your itinerary, you can start your Saadani National Park safari from Dar es Salaam or Tanga. During the dry season, Saadani has so much to offer. We suggest you spend at least two nights in this lovely park.
Similarly to many other national parks in Tanzania, Saadani National Park offers a unique setting for safari-goers to stay inside the park. You’ll stay in some of the most charming safari camps and lodges, where you will unwind and enjoy delicious food and sundowners.
With several accommodation options to choose from, we can guarantee that your safari experience will be meticulously created just for you with your specific interests, travel style and schedule. Everything will be tailored to your preference, allowing you to enjoy a perfect balance of comfort, adventure and maximum wildlife viewing. You can decide when to start your trip and how long your daily game drives should last, as long as it is within the time set by the national park authorities (the park gates usually open at 06h00 and close at 18h30). Ultimately, you will have an opportunity to choose what you would like to do, when you would like to start your private safari trip, and where you would like to go.
At Wito Africa, we do not limit game drives by restricting drivers on the mileage they can travel per day. Therefore, we are happy to offer you an extensive all-day private game drive with a picnic lunch break between your game drives.
