Rubondo Island National Park

Rubondo Island National Park

Rubondo Island National Park is made up of a number of small islands on the southwest shores of Lake Victoria. One of the real draws of this park is the myriad butterflies and diversity of bird life, which you can enjoy from the shore.

It’s also worth keeping an eye out for the endangered sitatunga, an extremely rare amphibious antelope, darting into the marshes to hide from predators. Its speed and agility is impressive, but it is also skilled at camouflage so you’ll have to have a very keen eye to spot this elusive creature.

The tranquil setting of Rubondo Island National Park invites you to take a breath and enjoy the view, while a day trip to some of the islands within the park will hold its own thrills and excitements.  Read More
