This itinerary is intended as inspiration, giving you an idea of how to capture the soul of Tanzania’s wilds and touch the real heart of Africa. It makes a great starting point for planning your unique adventure through this stunning landscape, but we will work with you to customize, tweak and tailor your trip so that you can start looking forward to the safari of your dreams.

Welcome to Kenya! Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) you will be warmly welcomed by a Wito Africa private transfer driver, who will take you to Wilson Airport to board a scheduled flight to the Masai Mara National Reserve. A private field guide and vehicle will meet and greet you when you land at the Kichwa Tembo private airstrip in Masai Mara and then take you on a gentle game drive on your way to your beautiful Bateleaur Camp for an overnight stay. After a brief orientation of your luxury camp, you will enjoy a scrumptious dinner. You will spend three unforgettable nights here, filled with spectacular resident and migratory wildlife. Take part in day and night game drives, followed by amazing sundowners around the campfire, while you feast your eyes on breathtaking views of the renowned Masai Mara. While you’re musing on this perfect African wilderness experience, you can interact with the legendary Maasai people and explore their fascinating culture.

After a delicious breakfast, you will say goodbye to the Masai Mara with hearts and minds full of incredible memories, and board your scheduled flight to Migori. From Migori, you will take a road transfer to Isebania to clear customs (obtain a visa to Tanzania) and then continue to Tarime, where you will catch a quick scheduled flight to Serengeti. Your Wito Africa private guide will greet you at the airstrip and take you on a gentle game drive as you make your way to your luxury mobile camp (this mobile tented camp moves seasonally to be in the best location for migration viewing, all year round). A stay here offers a front row seat to the Great Wildebeest Migration. For the next three days, you will explore the resident wildlife and stunning landscapes, and venture to the river for a chance to witness the dramatic river crossing!

OPTIONAL – Why not take an unforgettable flight over the Serengeti in a hot air balloon!

After a leisurely breakfast, your Wito Africa private guide will transfer you to the airstrip in Serengeti for your scheduled flight to Lake Manyara. Upon arrival in Lake Manyara airstrip, you will be greeted by a Wito Africa private safari guide and vehicle and taken on a half-day game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Enjoy a delicious picnic lunch and slow-paced game drive and exploration.  Lake Manyara is famous for its tree-climbing lions, flamingos, breathtaking scenery and the soda-ash lake in the center. In the afternoon, transfer to the crater rim for sundowners, dinner and an overnight stay overlooking the spectacular wildlife bowl that is the Ngorongoro Crater.

The next day, after an early breakfast, you will descend with your private safari guide to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater, where you will find spectacular scenery (arriving nice and early gives you the best chance of witnessing the predators returning from their overnight hunts) and game viewing in what has been described by UNESCO as the eighth wonder of the world. Ngorongoro is a collapsed volcano - an incredible natural amphitheater, 25 km across, and teeming with more than 30,000 protected animals, including all members of The Big Five. Depart from the lodge with a picnic so that you can maximize your time in the Crater. In the late afternoon, return to your lodge for sundowners and relaxation before your scrumptious dinner.

Day 9: KILIMANJARO & BEYOND (Optional - Day Room in ARUSHA)

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the Crater Lodge before your transfer to the Lake Manyara airstrip, where you will board your scheduled flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport. Upon arrival at JRO, gather your luggage and transit to your international flight departure.

NOTE - For late evening departure out of JRO, we will arrange a scheduled flight to Arusha Airport from Lake Manyara. You will also have access to a day room in Arusha, where you can relax and rejuvenate before you are transferred by road to Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Your total cost will vary depending on seasonality, size of group and specific travel arrangements, but this is a good guideline for an all-inclusive safari (everything except international flights):

  • $499 USD per person per day for 3-star accommodation
  • $699 USD pp per day for 4-star
  • $999+ USD pp per day for 5-star

It’s worth noting that, depending on your itinerary, your lodge cost will make up about 75–85% of your total safari trip cost.

It’s your adventure of a lifetime, so make it your own by picking and choosing from the huge selection of safari activities, trips and tours on offer. There’s something for every age, group, budget and timescale so whatever you dream of, you’ll find it here…
